For Florida Democrats there is good news and bad news headed their way this November.
The good news is that something big is going to happen. The bad news is that they aren’t going to like it. However, Florida’s voters will be thoroughly invigorated and entertained,
In the past when their future looked bleak Democrats at least gave their followers someone to vote for. This time in the senatorial race they didn’t even try.
The Democrats selected a stand-up comic, Angie Nxon, to run against incumbent Republican Ashley Moody, for the U.S. Senate.
Wasn’t Charlie Crist available? In the past at least he put up some semblance of a fight even though he couldn’t figure out if he was a Democrat, Republican or independent, since he’s run as all three.
What about their 2018 gubernatorial candidate, Democrat Andrew Gillum? Or is he still incarcerated or in drug rehab?
The problem for Democrats is that Nixon doesn’t know whether she’s doing a standup routine or a campaign speech. She thinks all that laughter is from potential voters thrilled silly over her extreme socialist plans for Florida. She has no idea she’s playing the buffoon to Moody’s straight man.
Moody’s campaign probably can’t believe its luck. Her opponent is bat-poop crazy. She’s making Maine’s disgraced Graham Platner and California sad sack Eric Swalwell look presidential in comparison.
For example, following her primary election win, Nixon, in her best Al Sharpton evangelical preacher’s voice screeched: “There’s no sexualization at a drag show. I’ve taken my children to drag shows, and it’s wholesome entertainment. I don’t get it.”
That line gets uproarious laughter every time. She also advocates for reparations, getting rid of ICE, amnesty for illegals, abolishing the police and much more.
Nixon was endorsed in the primary election by the national progressive organization, Our Revolution, associated with leftist Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. What’s next, a Jacksonville rally with demagogue Hasan Piker, who says America deserved 9-11?
Following this November’s electoral massacre of Florida Democrats a Mercy Rule will probably be incorporated once all the votes are counted. Moody will have won an embarrassingly massive majority of the votes over a gal that’s an insult to the voter’s intelligence. I find it hard to understand why Democrats would set themselves up like this.
The upcoming race will be like the New York Yankees playing a Little League team: an embarrassingly ugly, unfair, lopsided rout. Maybe that’s the Democrats’ strategy—hoping GOP voters stay home because the opposing candidate is so awful, they’ll feel the election is in the bag, which is what they’ll be after they see the results.

“Who Are Those Guys?”: Who are these working people Democrats champion?
Democrats repeatedly refer to the “working class” and the “working man” but I have yet to hear or read their definition of these “working” folks.
They run around with their hair on fire screaming that Trump and conservatives are Nazis while proudly claiming to be socialists, members of the Socialist Democrat Party. ‘Socialism!” they proclaim, “It’s a cool idea that all the swell kids are talking about.”
They have no idea that the NAZI label they so freely toss at Trump, conservatives and Republicans was the acronym for the National German Workers Socialist Party.
Who are are these working people the Democrats so rabidly support? Are they the proletariat, the oppressed, the downtrodden, the masses, the rabble, the serfs, the wretched refuse of foreign shores? Hey! Don’t blame me for that “wretched refuse” phrase, it’s taken verbatim off socialist Emma Lazuras’s poem engraved on a plaque on the Statue of Liberty.
We know who the working people aren’t. They’re not the ones living on the streets in Los Angeles, New York, or other blue-governed cities and states. Those folks don’t work and they don’t want to. Many desperately need medical, mental, drug or alcohol treatment the Dems won’t provide. Instead, the Democrat administrations in their states provide them with free drugs, syringes, food, and cash. There’s no incentive to break a sweat. Those who need arresting are ignored, much like those that need medical and mental care.
Are clerks with jobs in stores and office towers considered “working” people? How about the folks in the C Suite? What about the commuters living in suburbs or those with offices at home?
I’m surprised the Democrats/Socialists don’t refer to conservatives and business owners and their management teams as capitalist exploiters and overseers. Oh! Wait, they do. It’s like the good ‘ole days when those two wild and crazy guys, Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin, were singing:
Those were the days, my friend
We thought they’d never end
We’d sing and dance forever and a day
We’d live the life we choose
We’d fight and never lose
Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong eventually joined the chorus. It’s still being hummed today in Moscow and Beijing. just not as enthusiastically.
On American college campuses Lenin’s “useful idiots” have chimed in and the upcoming elections will determine if their naïve audience joins the growing commie congressional chorus singing “We Shall Overcome”.
Wall Street Journal columnist Holman Jenkins has an answer for all those young communist/socialists looking for relief from having to be self-supporting. “For them there’s the U.S. Army,” suggests Holman. “They’ll always know where their next meal is coming from and what to wear. Their time will be structured, and accommodations provided,”
The downside for the young socialist/communists is that the military also places a high value on initiative.

Speaking Of Whacky & Misguided: There are a couple of pieces of advice floating around today that that it’s probably best for young people to ignore. 1- On a first date: “Just be yourself! Absolutely not. Try to be better, much better, or you’ll never snag a second date. 2- Bring your whole self to work. Again, absolutely not! Leave that crap at home or in the car in the parking lot and only bring the hardworking, serious and professional side to the office. Otherwise, you’ll be out there looking for another job very quickly.

I’ll Drink To That: Over a beer at PJD’s Beer & Wine Garden the other day a guy with a lot of common sense summed up the brouhaha about Fernandina’s spendthrifts currently populating the City Commission emphasizing how all of these recreation perks Commissioners want cost tax payers lots of money.
“They have to be maintained and repaired with more staff, trucks, tools, uniforms, benefits, etic,”, he explained. “That means our taxes will go up. We’ve got a 13-mile-long beach, a huge State Park, a couple of recreation centers, ball fields, multiple parks with playgrounds, a Greenway, miles of sidewalks, several golf courses, bike paths, docks, boats ramps, rivers to boat and fish in – how many more recreation facilities do we need? Do they want parks in the parks? Good grief, if you can’t “recreate” with all this you’ve got troubles!”
This fella makes a lot of sense. There is much more intelligent life outside the Commission chambers than inside them. Those inside need to get out more. The only one I ever see mingling with the citizens is Darron Ayscue, the white knight who will soon hopefully be joined by another tightfisted conservative, Commissioner-elect, Scott Inglis.

Presidential Coincidences: By now most folks probably know that John Adams, the second U.S. President and an architect of the Declaration of Independence, and Thomas Jefferson, the third President and also an architect of the document, died on the same day, July 4, 50 years after the Congress adopted the Declaration. But few know that the fifth President, James Monroe, also died on July 4, five years after Adams and Jefferson. Since he was only 18 years old at the time of the drafting of the Deceleration of Independence, he had no hand in that, but he did fight in several key battles in the Continental Army.
.
Dave, your story of Angie Nixon should also include her tight connections to Fernandina Beach. In 2023, Genece Minshew and the pride team brought Nixon in for a fiery speech at the pride festival in our children’s park. Her extremist blather celebrated the Democratic support of transgenderizing our children and the left wing groups that make that happen. Nixon had a booth at the 2026 pride festival. Why is Minshew bringing this radical mess to Fernandina.
Hey Dave… I see where Charlie Crist now is running for the Mayor of St. Petersburg.
Dave, while I appreciate your intent, neither Marx nor Lenin would have sung “Those Were the Days”. It’s essentially a new song lyric written to the old Russian melody “Dorogoi Dlinnoyu” (translation “By the Long Road”) and isn’t really a translation of the original song. “Those Were the Days” was written in 1962 by Gene Raskin and made internationally famous by Mary Hopkin (produced by Paul McCartney) in 1968.
Art, I didn’t assume for a second that anyone would believe those two wild and crazy guys, Karl and Vlad, would be arm-in-arm belting out the 1960s song, “Those were the days”. It was written satirically. But thanks for the ethnomusicology lesson.
I do not believe a majority of voters are clueless to Nixons past and current behavior on the Florida House Floor or current campaign. Thank God it is not an act. She really is that stupid. Makes me believe she is from DNA connected to soon to unemployed Jasmine Crockett. Nixon only got 68,637 votes in DUVAL County out of 246,535 registered voters and where any liberal can win because Republicans cannot put up a decent and competitive candidate. Statewide 1.66 millions votes were cast in the Republican Primary with Ashley Moody getting 1,320,613 votes (79.6%). In the Democratic election 1,308,673 votes were cast with Nixon getting 56% primarily from, Boward, and Miami-Dade, both being a cesspool of liberals.. Her opposition was Alex Vindman whose greatest asset is a serious case of Trump Derangement Syndrome and spending $16,000,000 to lose. The hit piece published yesterday on Ron and Casey DeSantis, Ashely Moody, and other members of the administration came from liberal news sources and Democratic Socialist. It will not boost Nixon one vote.
“….hoping GOP voters stay home because the opposing candidate is so awful, they’ll feel the election is in the bag” reminds me of when I attended a conference in NYC and one attendee asked the speaker just HOW was AOC able to be elected? The speaker stated that, “well, the primary voting simply did not seem important, and she was an absolute ‘nobody’….. people were shocked that she was actually elected”.
It will be interesting to see where “normal” Democrats end up. I haven’t had the desire to sit down with one of ’em to find out how they really feel about these new Socialist coming out from under the rug with their whacky ideas. It’s their problem, right? My thoughts are, “how in the world can they go along with them?” But I forsee that Republicans will get stronger, the “normal” Democrats will merge a bit with Independents, and we’ll be left with an extreme Left. Will those Independents vote “Right”, or “Left”? It’s gonna get crazy(er).
